This is a session many, many, many years in the making. I want to tell you how many events collided to create this perfect heirloom portrait. My husband had amazing grandparents. I was lucky enough to have been able to create priceless memories with these two amazing people. I think Josh's grandpa Roy may go down as one of the very few heros I have encountered in my life. I know he wouldn't like being called that since he was also one of the most humble spirits too. That humility is one of my favorite qualities about him. Anyway, he and his wife loved antiques and "old things", restoring historic places was a hobby of theirs. In the very early days of Josh's grandparents marriage they picked out this beautiful love seat. They were very tiny people, only physically speaking, and would sit together on this fine piece of furniture. It resided for decades in their bedroom which matched the unique blue perfectly. Skip ahead to 1996 when I first met these wonderful people who would eventually be may family too. I will never forget the first time I saw that stunning blue loveseat. I remember seeing and thinking it was the most beautiful, classic, timeless mini couch ever. It is a very rare thing for me to immediately bond with things like this. Everytime we would visit Josh's grandparents I would look at this loveseat and just wish someday I could find something just like it for myself. Occasionally, I would pop into antique shops or consignment furniture stores hoping to stumble across something like this couch. It was never far from my mind. As time pasted so did Josh's wonderful grandparents. Eventually it came time to clean the house and Josh asked if where was anything we would want. Dealing with anything like this is a tender subject but I expressed my love for this little blue couch and lucky for me it found its way to my loving home last month.
To add to the story.. my nephew needed his one year old portraits, as is tradition in their family. He is named after his great-grandfather Roy, the same Roy who picked out this beautiful couch with his wife decades ago. This is baby Roy sitting on Great- grandpa Roys couch... It doesn't get more special than that. Everthing about these portraits is classic, something to gain value as years pass. I couldn't be more humble or grateful to have a reminder of two of the most amazing people I have ever met. Thank you!
Thanks L for sharing your wonderful kids with me again. They just melt my heart! I can't wait for you to have another portrait on your wall to add to your collection. Thank you for letting me watch your kids grow up and have such fun personalities. It makes me chuckle to think how different each one of your kids has been at age 1. So fun to be able to compare! Thank you, thank you!
