In a previous life I taught sewing to kids. Teaching sewing was a fabulous first job, and looking back, I am sure I made my parents proud. I started teaching when I was 14 and continued through my freshman year of college. Now a days my machine only comes out for Halloween. It will be put away today since I am finished sewing for the season and it has been sitting on the kitchen table for about 2 months. Sewing definitely takes a back seat to photography, it has too, but I still love the rythmic sounds of the machine. For those of you that may have been a part of that previous life at "The Finishing School" I still tell myself ALL THE TIME..... "back tack, sew, back tack".
This wonderful mother probably doesn't ever put away her sewing machine. She has a true gift for textiles and the art of sewing. She made these beautiful outfits for her girls. I know NO ONE who still knows how to smock a dress excpet her. The quality of her sewing has long surpassed my abilities and I am in awe of a mother who keeps this art alive. Photographing children is a special gift but it rises to a whole new level when the dresses are handmade. What a priviledge!
Thank you so much J for bringing your special creations on your wonderful kids to share in my garden, I thought they all look perfect together. I still fill bad about the mud... I am just grateful it was on M and not the girls, I hope it all came out. It was such a beautiful evening, I always enjoy your wodnerful company. Thanks so much!
